I have the same problem. DNG from K10D, opened in PE 4.0 on the Mac, I am only offered the option of saving as a .dng or .DNG! The only way I have found to get out of the DNG format in PE 4.0 (or 3.x, before I finally installed the upgrade last week) is to do a Batch Process. That will work on however many images are selected, 1...n Same thing if I open the file with DNG Converter...
