I have not used Pentax 6x7 gear, but my usual desire in medium format
equipment is for a wide angle with 70 to 90 degrees of diagonal
coverage (45mm will be 90 degrees on the 6x7) and a portrait tele
lens (something around 150mm for the 6x7). Macro is something I
normally do only with smaller format cameras, and not too often at that.

For a tripod, the evergreen Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 series legs would be
the minimum I would consider for as large and heavy a camera as the
6x7 (or 645). There are many good ball heads that work well, my
favorite in the Manfrotto line is the 468MGRC2 (which I use for
compatibility with the RC2 mounting plate on the 322RC2 grip-ball
head and my lighter cameras), but for more serious medium format work
I'd go with an Acratech, Kirkphoto or ReallyRightStuff ball head with
Arca-Swiss style quickrelease. These heads get pricey but are well
worth the money. Going for a lighter weight set of legs or less
capable head will generally just mean spending money again when you
find they aren't really up to the task.
