I agree with everything you say. It matches my personal experience as well. But I have taken a "so what?" attitude about it. If people are happy with the photos they get, does any of this matter?
There will always be a minority of tech-heads and serious professional photographers for whom all of this is very important, but for most people it just doesn't matter.
