Two words: Sanyo Eneloop!

They're AA format, and they can be charged in any decent NiMH charger.

Their stated capacity in MaH (or is that MAh?) is less than a lot of
other batteries, but I'm sold after just one rotation. I've had them
in my ist-DS since 11/10, and after 700 exposures (and over a month
of being in the camera) they're still going strong. I haven't had to
charge them yet.

My crappy 2500MaH Energizers wouldn't last a month even if I'd never
taken a single shot with them.

I've got the Delkin Rechargable CR-V3s ("RCR-V3" if you please) and I
never even got 300 exposures from them before I'd have to charge
again - and at 1.5hrs per battery, times 2 batteries, that's a royal
pain. Stay away from them. If anyone wants mine I'll mail the set
to you for the cost of postage.

The Eneloops were $11.99 for a set of 4, and I'm using a 3-year-old
Duracell 1-hour charger with them (or, I will once I need to charge
them). Highly recommended.
