Okay, so I've finally gone digital. I bought a D from Cameta Camera,
that ebay dealer who is selling them at closeout prices and which led
to a discussion about it here the other week. I bought the kit with
the D, FA-J 28-80mm lens and a Pentax cleaning cloth. (The lens is
useless to me as I already have a 28-80 which I seldom use, but it
was only $5 more than the basic camera without lens so what the hell.
I figure I'll barter it at my favourite camera store for a few rolls
of film.). The camera is as advertised; new with USA warranty card.
The only negative thing about the deal was that the mircofiber
cleaning cloth is supposed to be Pentax as well, instead it
reads...Fujifilm!

All in all, I think a good deal for a new digital (albeit obsolete)
camera. I even did alright on the CF card: my local Radio Shack was
selling 1gb Sandisk cards for $59.99 but when the clerk rang it in it
came up at $24.99, so I grabbed two!

I've set it up, updated the firmware and taken a few shots. Now my
question is this, and I apologise because I know it's been asked and
answered on the list before, but how do I get the thing to meter with
my old pre-A lenses? I have enabled the aperture ring via the Pentax
function. Now what? Is it just hit and miss, varying the exposure and
checking the display after each shot until you hit it right? I could
live with that but surely there has to be a more elegant solution.

Thanks in advance!
