Hi Shel, Yes, I remember a great disparity from one part of the bay area to another. I went to visit a friend in Marin County one evening in July, and it was quite warm. And I've worked in SF in the fall and found it much better than the summer. (I spent two months trying to help Young & Rubicam SF on their Chevron account back in '91.)
