You'll note that generally the people issuing more concern over the perceived threat of global warming tend to either be younger or have younger friends or family that they care about. So they may not want to have to bear the brunt of these changes themselves and/or they feel that they maybe letting down future generations by not taking this seriously whether it be absolutely provable or not.
