this is one of the ways in which the anti-environmentalist lobby tries
to have its cake and eat it too. When environmentalists point to the
increasing occurrence & strength of phenomena such as hurricanes, the
antis claim that the sample size is too small, and the historical
record too short, to draw any reliable conclusions about global
warming as the cause. But let them find one piece of evidence that
appears to go the other way, such as a particularly cold winter, and
they immediately claim that it supports their cause. Cherry-picking
the evidence, I believe it's called.
