I'm sure that it wouldn't make a dent on Canons bottom line to
negotiate rights from a relatively small vendor like Smegma and it
would be likely that if Foveon saw potential from someone like Canon
they they would encourage Smegma to relinquish some exclusivity
rights.

Not that any of this is actually happening but I never could
understand why Foveon made exclusivity deal with Smegma. I can only
assume that there must have been a lot of pocket lining going on in
the upper echelons of each company as it certainly wasn't the best
policy if the outcome that they wanted was success in the market.
