Daniel. This is a photo equipment (and photo?) list, yes.

But it is also a list with pretty strong social bonds. Me as an example has
met several interesting list members in real life. On those occasions we
have had interesting photo talks, but also interesting talks about other
topics, about life in general. So, those people mean something to me. Others
have I not met in person, but I have had interesting talks with them too.

Those relations grows don't come by themselves. They come because we invest
in the social list life. Some of us shares bits and pieces of our non photo
personality and life. Shel as an example has shared his dedication towards
chocolate. Because of this and him sharing bits from Casa Belinkoff I kind
of know him.

I'm not saying that we all have to share our off list life, and discuss
other topics. No.
But personally I like it the way it is. Despite the occasional flame wars.

I find some of them unpleasant, yes. I have even made some unsuccessful
attempts to negotiate ;-)
But, I think the unpleasant ones have a function too. Because after a fight,
we usually make friends again. So, in an odd way, a flame war is bonding
too. And bonding is a good thing IMO. If you dislike the bonding, simply
don't bond, is my advice.

I'm not saying ugly flame wars are a good thing, but they are not all bad,
if you get the idea.

Just my 0,02 Nkr.

Well, I don't dring hot chocolate, just coffee, and mostly fair trade
at that. I just think that pushing political and social agendas on a
photography forum is a misuse of the forum and eventually will lead to
more flame wars. Just my opinion. YMMV
