        I rigged up a small 6v lead-acid battery on an external cord for 
cold-weather operations.  I figured I can leave the external battery under 
my coat to keep it warm, and the 6.5V of a fully-charged battery matches 
the power supply voltage.

        Now... if only it would get cold enough to need it here without 
going back to Alaska...
