- Set your K10D to RAW/DNG format.
- Process in Camera Raw, any version greater than v2.4 will do.
or
- Set your K10D to RAW/PEF format.
- After transferring the PEF files to your computer, run Pentax Photo
Browser/Lab, select the files you want, and convert them to DNG format.

In either case, processing the K10D's DNG files with Adobe's DNG
Converter will perform lossless compression and save a bunch of disk
space.

I don't use any specific calibrations. Someone posted calibrated
presets for the K10D and I tried them ... on my system, the results
were all over the map, comparatively speaking, and much harder to
work with than just saving whatever Camera Raw defaults you prefer. I
use Camera Raw v3.6 and its white balance eye dropper to get color
temperature adjustments into the right ballpark.

Alternatively, once you have the DNG files from the camera, you can
try processing them with Adobe's Lightroom. I'm getting excellent
results with it, all the photos in my recent "Window People" posting
were processed from RAW/DNG with Lightroom.

Other RAW converters:
   Silkypix (PEF and DNG)
   LightZone (DNG)
RAW Developer (PEF and DNG, Mac OS X only)
   Bibble (PEF, beta version)

I've tried the first three of these and each has its strengths and
weaknesses. I prefer Camera Raw and Lightroom at this point, they
produce the best prints by my testing, so far.
