Just warn people about the bad stuff, and direct them  toward the good stuff.

Computers are getting easier to use all the time,  and someday they won't 
overwhelm the total novice. (Well, I like being  optimistic, though I wish 
they'd 
stop putting trial McCaffes and Nortons, etc.  on new XP machines and 
confusing newbies when they want to remove things like  that and not pay for 
them).

Uh, darn, I am slipping in into the gripe  arena and I was trying to be 
optimistic.
