The short answer is: no. I gave up on company loyalty years ago, shortly before I was first made redundant. The job I have now is going quite well, but we're still in the settling down phase after we 'merged' with a company whose assets are 30,000 times greater than ours were. In theory the new job is great for me, a real result, but in practice I can see no reason whatsoever why they would want to keep our office open for 5 minutes longer than it takes them to suck our brains. I'm handing out straws.
The best we minions can do is live with it, expect it, and prepare for it. -- Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of David J Brooks > Sent: 28 January 2007 23:54 > To: Pentax Discuss > Subject: OT: Does company restructuring ever end?? > > Well, i did see the writing on the wall a while back, but thought it > would boil over. > > For the past 33 and a bit years, i have been employed in the survey > depart of a large Eng/Survey/Mapping/etc Company. > > We did some restructuring in our division, and i went from the field > to a job as a GIS mapping tech recently. > > Last Tuesday, i was told we have no work past April 8, which i > fiqures, looking at the job boards.:-) > > So,,, to keep me working, or as i look at it, get rid of moi, i m > being transfered to an electrical/mechanical engineering firm, that we > bought in 2004. > > What i find odd, is that i have 33 years of survey experience, and 3 > months of Microstation Gis, but i seem to be quite shy on electrical > and mechanical experience.<vbg> > > My soon to be ex boss said look at it as an adventure.
