A friend of mine is still running his original Win98SE install. I installed it for him in 2000, IIRC. My Win XP install ran 4 years without a hitch, and would still be running if the hardware hadn't failed. My old Pentium 2 is still in use, running Win98SE, which was a clean install in 2001. What you are complaining about is akin to complaining that the car you bought last year doesn't have as much horsepower as what they are putting under the hood this year.
