you are clueless when it comes to M42 usage. Auto aperture is a VER VERY IMPORTANT and USEFUL SHOOTING FEATURE all by itself and there are M42 bodies that dont even have meters at all that have autoaperture function ( a whole bunch of Pentax ones too ). Wake up, and you DID state "all that is missing" was some sort of metering button. NO, the autoaperture support for autoaperture M42 lenses is MISSING TOO. I was talking about a M42 DSLR body which of course would have autoaperture support for M42 lenses, there wouldnt be any other reason to make one. jco

I didn't. As far as I'm concerned, the metering stop down button IS the auto aperture feature. They're directly (and physically) connected on M42 SLR's that feature that capability. That's exactly what I was referring to when I commented on the metering stop-down button, since it's all the same basic mechanism. You don't need a metering stop-down button if the body doesn't do auto-aperture and you do if the body does do auto-aperture. There's no other reason for the stop-down button to exist. -Adam J. C.
