We have a rather active dog club in my community. They have formal "dog meet
dog" meetings every week, and some informal meetings too. So getting the dog
socialised shouldn't a problem. They also arrange good puppy training
classes, with dedicated instructors. We will join one all three of us, me,
Marit and Frøya (Frøya is a mythological name, she was the god of
motherhood).

If you can spare the resources, both in time and money, you would do well to
join your local club rather than just taking classes from them.
A dog club can be a very valuable resource if you run into problems.

We where warned about HD/AD, lately that has become an issue here,

It's an issue averywhere. Don't let the dog grow too fast, use a slow growth
dog food, or bias your RAW (BARF) diet to ensure controlled growth.
Vitamin C is an accepted supplement here to assist with displaysia free
growth as well.
North American Rotties are running about 50% elbow displaysia as well. This
is not as serious or debilitating, but I'd be insisting on clear elbows, as
well as hips and eyes.

I
was told. I'll do a lot of research looking for a serious breeder. I also
need to look for a dog that's not too determined. Myself I am stubborn as a
mule, but Marit needs something less stubborn. This makes the puppy training
class very important, I want the dog to know its place. A dog that knows its
place is a happy dog.

At one end of the spectrum is a laid back bitch, the other end is a high
drive dog. Both have advantages and disadvantages from a performance
training POV, but in a family environment, a low drive bitch is definitely
going to be easier to get along with.

I'll keep you posted, most likely I'll ask for an advice or two too.

Please do.
Thanks

William Robb
