I have this lens and couldn't be more pleased with both the optical and
build quality. I am in the process of trading it in on the new DF model
that is identical optically but has been redesigned to incorporate the
"dual focus" mechanism. This allows you to disengage the focusing
collar so that it does not rotate when auto focusing. The feel on
manual focus on the older one is excellent, but now that I have and
MZ-S and auto focus, I find it easier to disengage the collar so I do
not restrict the lens rotations by holding on to the focusing collar.
On other Sigma EX lenses I already own that have this dual focus
mechanism, the feel on manual is excellent, as good as my older manual
focus lenses.

Cheers, Mike.
