75mm and 135mm leaf shutter lenses have no 'A' setting.  Granted,
there were still soft focus FA lenses (with no 'A' setting) in the
catalog when they introduced SAFOX 8 metering.  As far as I know,
there are no SAFOX 8 cameras with aperture levers.  The 645n does, in
fact, use the same metering electronics as your MZ-3.
