Profiles generally offer some improvement over other methods of 
printing that tend to be more hit and miss. I once used ColorSynch 
workflow, and I was completely happy with  my results, but Godders 
talked me into printing with the profiles and color management turned 
off. I have to say the results are superior, particularly on difficult 
prints, such as those with a lot of shadow detail.
