Correct. They are very close in terms of sharpness. In shooting, the DA 21 does have some barrel distortion. I never really evaluated the FA 20 for that. "I only had a Pentax FA20 once for a very short evaluation and found it to be an excellent performer, better than my Canon 20/2.8." Photodo says so also. I can't bring myself to give up my FA 20, even through it will probably come out of my travel kit if I get the DA* 16-50 F2.8.
