Very non-PC? From that very Wikipedia posting:

I'd venture that those sentiments are indicative of ONE of America's 
problems, namely that we care so dang much about what OTHERs think, and 
especially, making allowances therefor.

The use of BC and AD is merely honoring ancient convention, not 
proselytizing.
