It would be wonderful if Pentax exploited the various niche markets and produced some very high-quality cameras and optics. Perhaps the cameras could have a minimal set of features in exchange for superior quality and durability. Likewise for the lenses. I for one would gladly pay top dollar for equipment such as this. I'd also like to see Pentax come out with a rangefinder body that could use not only their lenses (like the 43mm Ltd they made in Leica Thread mount) but Leica lenses as well as lenses for other, earlier rangefinder cameras. A simple adapter could be used to couple various lenses to the Pentax body (as is already being done for other cameras).
Pentax could produce all they want of the bread and butter lines of cameras, and offer something superior to those who want more unique or specialized offerings.
