Most likely. Epson's glossy paper profile is designed for Premium
Glossy surface.

I standardized on matte surface papers and Matte Black ink when I got
the R2400. I did recently buy a package of Epson Premium Luster to
see what the surface looked like, but haven't installed Photo Black
ink yet to test with. I've printed to Epson Enhanced Matte, Epson
Velvet Fine Art, Hahnemühle Fine Art Photo Rag (Smooth), and Somerset
Enhanced Velvet. That last is virtually identical to the Epson VFA
except for the paper coating: lovely stuff, my favorite so far.

I hate the way they keep changing names. Epson Enhanced Matte is now
Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Matte, Heayweight Matte is now
Premium Presentation Matte. Velvet Fine Art remains Velvet Fine Art
for the present. If they keep this up, I'm likely to go to a third
party paper source just to keep from getting confused.

Ink consumption: yesterday I made about 50 A3 size prints, image size
an average of 11x14" coverage, on Epson Enhanced Matte. That's
consumed about 3/4 of a set of ink cartridges. Regards charging the
cartridges after changing, you press the ink button to move the tanks
to where you can change carts, change them, and then it cycles and
charges the heads when you press the button again. No need to do it
every time you turn on the printer.
