I think you are close, but missing one crucial step!

What you did was:

1) Download the firmware update, and it ended up in your 'download folder'

2) 'Click' on the downloaded 'k10e111w.exe' file, which extracted the
files contained therein.

The part you are missing I think, is that the 'FWDC162B.BIN' file
that was extracted, needs to be COPIED from that download folder
to the SD-card that is in your reader.

That is an action YOU need to do, the 'k10e111w.exe' extractor
has no idea where your card-reader is located ...
The SD-card in the card-reader will have a drive-letter that
you must use to copy the file to.

Exactly HOW you can copy that file I do not know, I do not have Vista,
but normally on Windows you would use the Windows Explorer.

Once the 'FWDC162B.BIN' fileis on the SD-card, you can place
it in the k10D and run the upgrade procedure using the 'menu' button.
