I went with the 645 myself because of the size/weight advantage. I like
to go backpacking to inaccessible locations and I can get a reasonable 645
kit AND 35mm kit in my Lowepro Trekker AW.

Another thing I like about the 645 is the 3:4 ratio of the format. I prefer
it over the 2:3 ratio of 35mm and the 4:5 and 6:7 ratios of bigger gear.
It's not a big issue (I'm not an anti-cropping fanatic) but I do prefer
to use as much of the film that I've exposed and I find the 3:4 ratio works
best for my eye.
