I don't know how it might happen, but is sounds as if some EXIF data is still attached to your images. Try this: After getting the image adjusted and sized they way you want it, create a new, blank image in Photoshop, making its pixel dimensions identical to the photo you just optimized. Then go to the original image, Select All and Copy. Then Paste into the new, blank file. Save this and use it as the file to upload, making certain you check the box for "Scanned Image" on the Pentax web page.
