For that, I would use a stiff brush to clean as much as possible.  Then work 
the clamp a few times and repeat.  I suspect the pivot pin (gold coloured) will 
push out in one direction (up, if I was designing it) with a bit of effort.  It 
might not do that many times, though.  The manufacturer may also have used some 
type of high tech glue.
