I was a big fan of Cokin in the past too. But eventually, I have tried to
avoid it whenever possible. The biggest problem is they could be scratched
too easily. You cannot employ the regular cleaning routine to wipe them with
lens tissue or anything at all. The only safe way is to wash them with
detergent. Another problem is they are far from flare resistance because
they are uncoated resin (soft plastic).

To deal with different sizes of filters, I now use any array of step-up
rings. For instance, the biggest filter size of my lenses is 67mm. I just
bought all filters in that size, and then put step-up rings on other lenses.
These include 49->67mm, 58->67mm etc. The downside is I cannot use the
original lens hood. But over the years, I have bought a few "often-use"
filters just for these lenses (like PL and skylight etc) so this is not a
huge problem as I once imagined. However, you have to determine what the
biggest filter size you will ever need.
