Yes, the 300 f/2.8 and the AF 1.7 converter.
I really love that combo since the quality is still quite good and it turns
the MF lens into an autofocus 500mm which is great for birding ...

The disadvantage of the combo is the short reach of the AF,
I have to pre-focus the lens itself, and get a reach of 100m to infinity
for instance or perhaps 20 to 40m.

For the shorter distances (like the Grebes) the AF reach 
is often not more than 1 or 2 metres ...

That is why I would really love a new long tele from Pentax with the 
fast AF in-lens motor. But I would settle for a FA 250-600 as well :-)
