The sustained demand for Pentax lenses due to the popularity of the  
DS, DL, K100D, and K10D bodies is what causes the scarcity. I don't  
know why this is a negative thing ... you only need to buy a lens  
once. So there's a little wait to get what you want, and then you're  
done.

I've gotten every lens I wanted with at most a couple weeks' wait.  
I'm happy with all of them ... my lens kit is "done" for the present.  
I bought, used and sold several other new ones along the way too.  
There are a couple of lenses that I would buy in a moment if Pentax  
produced them ... like my often mentioned DA28mm f/2 Limited ...

But you gotta do what you feel is right for you.
And no, I'm not selling the FA20-35/4 AL any time soon... :-)
