The only thing that is the same is that they both have silver halide crystals and can be used to make pictures. The end result of a C41 film is entirely different from a black and white film. Nothing in the actual emulsion architecture is the same (except perhaps the gelatin). C41 film also has this thing called a mask layer which builds up neutral density as development increased.
