Open up MS Word, go to 'tools' menu, choose 'Envelopes and labels...'
A window will pop up, take the second tab 'Labels'
You can choose out of a wide range of predetermined label formats as
supplied by Avery and others, or you can set-up your own.
Scrolling through the list of 'standard Avery' labels, I see several with a
size of 1.27 x 4.44 cm. I have verified that with a 35mm slide, and it seems
to be a good fit. You can take the option to print the same text on all
labels on a page, or you can define on what label it should be printed, like
row 3, column 7.

I have used this option before and it works fine. I never tried it for
slides though.

(I do not work for MS, even don't like the software, but I have a copy of MS
Office for free, so what do you do? Well download SUN's star office for free
from their website. It also imports MS office documents and has a mail
client and even a web browser. The mail client doesn't work offline, so
that's why I don't use it.)
