I think selling it with the full disclosure of the problem would be the 
best bet --
My totally drowned canon pro-1 that I was told couldn't be saved got me 
$50.00
There is always someone out there who is a talented repair person (of 
feels he/she is)
willing to invest in an opportunity to tinker if nothing else.
