I think you should stick with those nice old brakes and gears - it's
classic stuff. If you want a new bike, steal someone else's.

I changed to a leather saddle last year and find it much more
comfortable than gel saddles and plain plastic ones. I expected to
have to go through a breaking-in period, but it was comfortable
straight out of the box. I don't have much personal padding in that
area though, so the saddle has to accommodate my sit bones quite
directly. The leather saddle adapts quickly to the shape of your
anatomy.
