About all one can to is lock a spoke to the seat stay, but since
Kryptonites are so difficult to remove, it's even a deterrent to those
who ride around in trucks, throwing freelocked bikes in the back to
remove locks later at their leisure.

Attaching a lock to a bike such that it can't be ridden, as opposed to
using a lock to attach a bike to a pole, post, bike rack, etc.  A
freelocked bike can still be picked up and moved about, just not
ridden, so it is a deterrent to those who would simply ride away with
an unlocked bike.
