I feel the same way. Most zoom lenses just don't make it for the kind  
of thing I want when doing street work, the only one that seems an  
exception to me is the FA20-35 due to its modest size and light  
weight. And even it is bulkier than I'd like.

You want a DA21 Limited. It is a wonderful street shooter's lens.  
Fitted with a sensible lens hood (not that ridiculous disk that  
Pentax supplied with it...), the K10D with one of these on it is  
compact and fun to carry anywhere.
