That's my policy, too. And I've found that many (not all) of the 
negative comments I do see fall into the categories of 
nit-picking-pixel-peeping or are over things like oversharpening that 
apply only to the web image and not the eventual print (which is what I 
always regard as the final product of a photograph). My observation is 
that there seems to be a lot of scrutinizing trees while ignoring the 
forest.

That said, I have to admit that the appeal of this specific photograph 
of Godfrey's completely escapes me. I just don't see anything there. 
But that's just me. No photo has to please *everyone*.
