I share that concern, but consider it to be largely paranoia.  I have a 40 
GB SmartTrax (clunky in my opinion).  After the first several times you 
download a memory card and find that things worked as expected, it's 
unlikely you'll take the time to check and view images on the display.

Are you bringing a laptop?  You could check the integrity that way. There 
are also some portable DVD burners out there, unsure of cost.  If you have a 
computer with you, you can pop in the DVD.
