My first reaction on looking at this was Wow. Then I thought about your idea of including it as a greeting card - I wondered what I would think if I saw this photo in a book, and I decided I'd probably pass it over without a thought. On reflection, the reason I initially reacted with Wow is that it looks like somewhere I'd enjoy being in real life, and it's a photograph by someone I know (albeit virtually). As a photograph it's not knock-your-socks off - in terms of the formal properties of the composition it's not really up to much, in all honesty - probably too much rather dull foreground to the right side of the picture. However elements of it are quite atmospheric and manage to convey a sense of the scale and grandeur of the place, and it's this that makes me say Wow. The place conveys itself almost in spite of the picture. I suppose what I'm saying is 'nice place, shame about the picture'! But I don't mean that as harshly as it probably sounds.
