I looked at these out of order - and my reaction to #2 was that the 
foreground was too bare. So, you can guess how I feel about number #1.

It may not be possible but if you could get up close the the log and use 
a wider angle it might be a more interesting shot. I like the concept 
here but everything looks so far away, it's hard to get connected to the 
image.

Nice start on the series, though.
