They're certainly strong enough in electronics (biggest RAM manufacturer on Earth last time I saw the numbers, lots of other chip-level products including complex ones like Alpha processors) and they have an interest; many (all?) of their cameras are re-badged Pentax designs. Having Hoya wipe out that division, if that is their plan, might really hurt Samsung. Would Samsung buy it instead?
