I could discern the poor quality of some of my lenses after a few rolls of shooting with them when I first got "serious" about photography. Unfortunately at the time financial constraints prevented me from getting what I wanted. And when I finally could afford what I always wanted, Pentax went a discontinued them. > or that you want them as a status symbol.
