My current computer is almost exactly four years old now. I bought it in anticipation of the *istD, realising that I needed more computing power to deal with digital imaging. My previous computer was from 1999, and hardly up to the task of scanning slides.
I'm expecting delivery of components for a new computer tomorrow. Ordering now is a direct consequence of a fortnight's frustration over dealing with K10D raw files on my current hardware. I use LightZone for converting DNGs, and the file-save operation takes on average 115 seconds (tested 5 files today) on the current hardware. What you say is indeed encouraging.
