I always found T400CN awful on colour paper - the contrast was ummm....
wrong - can't explain how. But when reprinted on standard Ilford MG paper it
was just great. Initially I used to get the film developed at a minilab and
used the prints as proofs, but I found that shots I had dismissed as useless
were actually worth enlarging, so the prints weren't even any good as
proofs. Now I just go for "develop only" when using a C41 monochrome film
and print an 8x10 proof sheet at home.
