The trail race was on a overcast day (Ektachrome 200) but the Boston Marathon was mostly sunny, sometimes cloudy. The "It's Like Woodstock, Man" photo was during one of the sunny intervals, for example.
I shot the Boston Marathon stuff on ISO 800 color negative film (my telephoto at the time was a less-than-stellar-quality 400/5.6 Sigma), mostly Fuji but with one roll of truly wretched Kodak 800 Max which I purchased in an emergency. I Shot negative film instead of slides so I could get it processed in an hour at the Walgreens on Boylston street, go back to my hotel room, scan the prints with a flatbed scanner and laptop and have them on the web the same day. Incidentally, I found a great use for the 18-35 zoom in places where I couldn't get near enough at the start. I set it at 18mm, put it on my MX and stuck the MX on my monopod. Then I set focus at the hyperfocal distance and used the self-timer to take the shot while I held the the bottom of the monopod to put the camera way over everyone's heads, John Coyle <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >Thanks Mark, I will be interested to see how it turns out.
