To be fair, the *ist isn't that bad. It has a marvelous meter in it,
SAFOX VIII auto focus, supports wireless flash with the pop-up, and has
nearly every feature of the MZ-S. On the downside, it is crippled (no
workaround), has a pentamirror finder (which is actually quite bright),
incorporates that same horrible one-wheel interface the DS has, and is
generally flimsier than the MZ-S (plastic, plastic, plastic, with a
slower, much weaker AF motor). The *ist was really a pretty good rig
when my wife and I were sharing a camera. It fit her small hands very
well. Adding the battery grip made it comfy for me. I'll agree,
though, that it would have to take a back seat to the MZ-S.

I still have mine, though I haven't used it in quite some time. Now
that I have the 360 flash gun it might see some use for off-camera flash
with film. Two and a half years ago I nearly blinded Chainsaw Dave when
he was trying to figure out how to get his flash working with his D. <g>
