Cotty & others, for future reference - we have a Japanese bank account for just such an occasion.
The buyer uses the money transfer system (although cheques are written, they appear to be uncommon) to send their funds to our account. We call the bank (they won't notify abroad) to ensure the funds are in place. Then the goods are shipped from UK - Japan is the single biggest market for the 40mm, and other "rare" Pentax optics.
