As much as I would like to encourage you to scrap the Sigma ( bought one one time for my wife's Minolta only to have it fall apart 12 months down the track) I think there may be a mirror alignment problem. The mirror plays an important part in the viewfinder image as well as providing the target to the autofocus sensor array.
