In my experience, specs you see in the viewfinder are usually dirt or 
scratches on the focusing screen. Or at least, these will be much more 
noticeable than any kind of particle on the mirror. The "best" way of 
getting rid of it (if it is dirt), is taking out the screen (if 
possible) and clean it properly. But, as others have pointed out, you 
will more likely than not make the situation worse, as traces of 
detergent, blotches left when the water dries etc. will be very visible 
when you look through the viewfinder.
