In my experience, specs you see in the viewfinder are usually dirt or scratches on the focusing screen. Or at least, these will be much more noticeable than any kind of particle on the mirror. The "best" way of getting rid of it (if it is dirt), is taking out the screen (if possible) and clean it properly.
